Jesus date of birth is not written in historical documents. It is not mentioned by the first church. There is no indication that His birth was a date considered in the traditions of any religion, including the Christian Faith. The date Christians celebrate for Christmas is really insignificant at best. The fact that the birth of Jesus is celebrated is neither born of a doctrine, or a requirement for Christians.
Christmas is celebrated by religious and secular populations. It is a time of year when some people remember the story in the Bible about how Jesus was born to be the Messiah, and King of Kings. For Christians the story of Jesus birth is considered to be a true story, and is significant to their faith because it was prophesied hundreds of years before He was born. The only significant gift of Christmas was actually offered on in Jesus' birth, and then given in the events of Easter, for Christians.
Christians would do well to go back to their Bibles, and revisit the story of Jesus entering the earthly scene, and then to celebrate in great worship and praise to Him, rather than give each other gifts. Jesus' birth is an event that the church needs to celebrate aside from all the secular activities, and even without
