Reveillark singlehandedly created a format changing niche in Magic: The Gathering because it enabled a game winning combo instantly upon playing it. The combo was very viable to win tournaments because it was the only deck of it's kind in both Standard and Extended formats, which usually have very limited amounts of decks that use combos, and if they do they typically suffered from being too slow. But Reveillark is not limited to only being useful in decks that play its combo, it is and was used in both control and aggressive decks because of its ability to bring creatures back from your graveyard, and it was often a necessary "staple" of the decks to maintain control over the game.
Reveillark is a 4/3 flier, costing 5 mana total, one white, four colorless. It's ability text states "When Revillark leaves play, return up to two creature cards with power 2 or less from your graveyard to play." Reveillark also has the evoke ability, which means you can play it for it's Evoke cost, and it is then sacrificed when it comes into play. So when you play it's evoke cost, Revillark does not come into play but you get to bring back two creature cards from your graveyard to play.
There are so many options for Revillark it's hard to know where to start, so lets take a look at the combo it enabled and forced change to the play environment. The combo involves the additional cards Body Double and Mirror Entity, and Mirror Entity and Revillark need to be in play when you want to execute the combo and win the game.
With both Revillark and Mirror Entity on the field and Body Double in the graveyard, active Mirror Entity's ability with X=0 multiple times, and put them on the stack. When the first triggers, all of your creatures become 0/0's and are sent to graveyard, triggering Revillark's ability. Bring back Body Double, copying Revillark so you can repeat this over and over again, because Body Double gets Revillark's ability to bring 2 creatures back. And chose another creature in your graveyard that has an effect upon coming into play. Popular choices are Riftwing Cloudskate, which returns a permanent to it's owners hand when it comes into play, or Mogg Fanatic, which can be sacrificed for one damage. Because Mirror Entities abilities were stacked, you creatures will continually turn into 0/0's and go to the graveyard until you run out of activations on the stack, so you have infinite time to return all of your opponents permanents to their hand or deal one damage to them by
