How budgeting can improve your life

Budgeting can improve your life... dramatically. By being careful with your money and thinking before you spend it you will end up with more money, peace of mind, less stress, better health and happiness.

Banks and other loan companies make it fairly easy for us to borrow now and pay back later, with irresponsible and impatient people this can lead to money problems. Sometimes the more they are allowed to borrow the more they do borrow, with never a thought to whether they really needed to borrow it in the first place or what will happen when they have to pay it back. Never borrow money unless you really have no choice.

We live in a World where we think it is normal and strange not to be able to afford anything and everything we want. Children now follow suit and assume they can have the very best trainers, computers and games consoles instantly. We believe that if we do not have a splendid home, a flashy car and holidays we are under privileged. Even if we work to pay for these things that is not enough. We need to cut the cloth accordingly. If we only earn $400 a week then we learn to only spend that or less per week, not a dollar more. If we are rich and famous we can spend as and when it suits us, if we are on a budget..... a limited income... we cannot afford to.

If your income is low then you have to lower your sights. This means no car or a smaller more economical car. A smaller home or a home in a less affluent and popular area. No holidays, less holidays, shorter holidays and cheaper holidays. No designer labels. No fancy expensive restaurants. The list is endless. If we really want to have all of those luxuries, for that is what they are, LUXURIES, then we must firstly earn more money.

But there are other reasons not to spend over budget or more than we ought to wisely. You have the fact that if you borrow and cannot pay back you get into trouble. You have problems, serious problems. You may lose your home, car or job. You might lose the respect of your partner and they may dump you. And all the while you are trying to sort it out and not getting anywhere with it you are losing your peace of mind with worry.

One of the most important reasons to be careful with money is because every time we spend on something we do not need, such as luxurious restaurants, we have less available to invest or save. It is tempting to just spend, spend, spend, and we may have the money there in the Bank just waiting to be spent, without borrowing. But it makes a lot more sense to think long term and make sure we have a future first. If we invest some money in a safe but effective way we may increase our income for the future, which is better than simply spending what we have. What is the point of spending all of your income on holidays and restaurants and then when you get to become elderly you suddenly find you are unable to work, ill and have no savings? By the time you reach sixty you could have acquired quite a bit.

The reason people get into financial difficulties is always because they spend more than they can afford, living for today and forgetting or not being realistic about tomorrow. If we were all more responsible for our own actions and choices this would not happen. The less you have coming in the more you need to be careful with it.
