TNA Wrestling is currently following a trend of groundbreaking announcements following the signing of professional wrestling legends Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff to their promotion. TNA Impact then went on to score one of their highest ratings in the midst of the World Series on Thursday, October 29. More major names are expected to join TNA Wrestling as apart of the Bischoff and TNA deal, as well as news circulating that TNA is looking to expand their programming, possibly by adding a show on Monday nights to go head to head with World Wrestling Entertainment's flagship RAW television show. Just what are the possible outcomes of a ratings war between WWE and TNA in 2010?
Professional wrestling is a sport that thrives on competition. This has been proven time and time again as the 1990'\s delivered the most entertaining years of wrestling ever seen in the ongoing ratings war between the WWE and WCW. Since 2001 when the WCW was bought out by the WWE, professional wrestling has not seen any level of competition which has taken much of the immersive attraction from the once thriving aspect of entertainment. A ratings war between WWE and TNA would add an aura of competition back to the sport which in turn could make it plenty more entertaining then the current standard as the two promotions will once again be competing for a common goal; ratings and viewership.
World Wrestling Entertainment is the biggest wrestling promotion the world has ever seen and is full of history. Several years ago, a competition between the WWE and TNA Wrestling would have been unheard of and looked at as nothing more than a pipe dream. In 2009 however, this pipe dream is quickly becoming a reality as TNA has risen up the ranks and bought countless hours of entertainment featuring some of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling including Kurt Angle, Sting, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Booker T and a host of up and coming future sensations such as AJ Styles and Matt Morgan. Now, the recent signing of Hulk Hogan, a man regarded as one of the most expensive names of all time, is a sign of things to come for TNA; the calm before the storm.
While WWE is evidently still the most popular promotion in the world, TNA is quickly making rounds in order to rise up the ranks to compete with the WWE. As the TNA Wrestling program becomes more and more popular and is currently progressing onward with a trend of professional wrestling's alternative and groundbreaking announcements, it seems that the potential of a ratings war between the WWE and TNA Wrestling is right around the corner in the coming 2010 year. Finally, the time has come when TNA actually stand a chance in succeeding and overthrowing the global behemoth known as the WWE; will this new level of competition be enough to spawn a brand new era of Monday Night Wars between the WWE and TNA wrestling products in 2010 and beyond?
