Borderlands - Farming in the Crimson Fastness

Created on: November 01, 2009

Borderlands is a first person shooter role playing game which stays true to traditional RPG conventions. One of these traditional conventions is the money system which works on a vintage loot system reminiscent of such games as Guild Wars and Baldurs Gate. Players of Borderlands will soon realize that money plays an important role in order to purchase higher level weapons, shields and upgrades. However, money seemingly comes easy at first glance and plays no real importance in the first play through. Once the player reaches play through 2 however, money becomes much more important and is actually a definitive necessity if you hope to survive even the first areas of the game. Just how can players hope to achieve higher earning potential in Borderlands?

One of the later areas of the game is called Crimson Fastness. Crimson Fastness is the only area in the game which provides players of a higher level with awesome farming potential and the ability to earn millions per hour which will not only unlock the challenges and achievements associated with money making, but it will also provide them with endless supplies of high level experience and of course, plenty of money making potential to carry them through to their second play through. Farming in the Crimson Fastness area is also very simple and players will likely adapt this as a primary money making method in the game.

When players first arrive in Crimson Fastness, they will notice a broken Claptrap near the entrance. When this Claptrap is fixed, he will give you access to two high-end chests and two lockers, all of which contain high level and extremely expensive weapons, armor and upgrades. If the player collects these and kills the surrounding enemies and collects their loot, players stand to make over a hundred thousand dollars per run, often even much more than that. Once you have collected all of your loot, simply enter your menu and exit the game to save your progress and then load your game again and you will be back in the same area complete with your loot, only the high end chests and lockers have been fully re-stocked.

Simply sell your stock to the vending machines at the entrance directly in front of where you spawn upon re-entering your game and repeat as necessary. On some occasions in the first room you enter, there is often a third high-end chest a little ways in front of the door which will give you even further earning potential. Always be sure to defeat all of the enemies in the first room as well as the Gatling gun which will give you even more items, followed by collecting the loot from the high end chests. From there, simply exit the game and enter it again to reap the endless farming potential from this awe inspiring area known as Crimson Fastness.
