Borderlands - Second play through guide

by Wayne K. Wilkins

Created on: November 01, 2009

Borderlands is a cooperative first person shooter role playing game that poses some of the most immersive and awe inspiring gameplay that has ever been seen on the Xbox 360 console. Once the player has finished the main storyline, the initial lack of endgame material is disappointing. However, upon exiting to the main menu, players will be able to notice that they are able to load their character back up for a second play through. The second play through allows players to begin the game again with everything they left off on their first play through with. The endgame material is featured throughout the second play through as players will gain access to new weapons, items and upgrades, as well as new enemies and countless new experiences that will level them up in preparation for the upcoming downloadable content, "Dr. Zed's Zombie Island".

The first thing players will notice about the second play through is the insane jump in difficulty that the game now brings to the table. Even the bandits and the skags that begin the game will pose more of a challenge than they did in the previous play through. This is simply a brief warning of what is yet to come. As soon as players begin the main story again, they will soon come into contact with the high level enemies that now inhabit even the easiest of locations. From "Big Motha Skags" to "Badass Brutes", the enemies will now pose a challenge for both single player and cooperative gameplay alike. Just how can a player hope to survive this dangerous new world of Pandora?

The first and foremost method of survival for both cooperative and single player in the brand new world of Pandora is to take it slowly. Even the simplest of areas now pose a threat and the last thing you want to do is aggravate unnecessary amounts of enemies. Simply move slowly and aggravate small amounts of enemies and attempt to lure them to a "safe zone" such as a rooftop or high area where you can take them out from afar. If this is unavailable, simply keep moving and shoot as you flee. It is also wise to use your special abilities whenever you get the chance.

Leveling up is just as important in the second play through that it is in the first. If you are under leveled, you will not survive. Take your time to complete side quests and grind in experience farming areas such as while on the "Mine Key" quest. The elemental motha skags provide massive amounts of experience per kill and can be taken down in minutes with an experienced team. Never underestimate
