Everywhere you turn, you here some form of music. From gospel, to rap,to hard rock, country western, jazz, classical, R&B you name it and it's out there. But for this year, 2009, there were some favorites. Now since I'm more in to old school, I thought it would be better for me if I did a little research on this topic. So I decided to survey some of the teens and the young adults in my area. Let's here what they had to say.
When it comes to country western Carrie Underwood was at the top of everyones conversation. Since her debut on American Idol, she's stormed through the country music industry like none other. Her new CD - Some Hearts - is the favorite amongst her fans. The number 1 song from that CD is Jesus takes the Wheel. Another favorite of the country western fans is Tayor Swift . Her music has also gotten great revues. Her CD Fearless, is the most talked about. Her fans favorite song from that CD is Love Story.
Now when it comes to rap (my least favorite), the teens tell me that Lil Wayne has been one of the hottest rap artist in 2009. His new single, Prom Queen is phenomenal and they can't wait for him to put out the full CD. Along with Lil Wayne is Kanye West. This artist I know has been out there for awhile, but our teens and young adults say he is still holding strong. His new CD is 808 Heart Break. And their most favorite single from it is, Love Lock Down.
Now in this next segment, Rhythm and Blues (R&B), there were several names to pop up really quickly. So I decided to talk about two of them. Mariah Carey, a long time favorite of mine, has a new CD out, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, is definitely one of the biggest buzzes around. One of the songs, Take a Look at Me Now, is a remix, and it is awesome. Mariah is a dynamite artist, with a voice to match. Another dynamo, all her own, with a dynamic come back is Whitney Houston. The buzz has it that, this time she may be better than ever. Her new single, I Look to You has made some major waves.
Last but not least Gospel. I didn't need to do a survey on this one. This is my field when it comes to music. Shekinah Glory's Jesus, is a beautiful and highly anointed song. Smokie Norful does I Understand, and Still Say Thank You. I'm still talking anointed people. And Marvin Sapp with I Never Would Have Made It.
It's been an awesome year in the music industry, let's hope it get even better.
