The thing to bare in mind when decorating for a holiday of any sort is that everyone's tastes and ideas are different. The tips I offer are simple ones based on my own opinions.
Imbolc is a time when the Maiden, or the Bride, is honored on February 2nd.
One popular creation for Imbolc is a Corn Maiden. The Corn Maidens are, from what I know, usually made of oat or wheat straw and are put into beds with white flower bedding. They, again to my knowledge, symbols of fertility to be kept year round. Making a Corn Maiden is one way to celebrate Imbolc. Symbols for Imbolc are white flowers, candle wheels, and ploughs. A decorative plough in the front yard or in a room of your choosing would be a good idea.
There are several herbs related to Imbolc. Some of the herbs I can name associated with Imbolc are; Laurel, Blackberry, Basil, Myrrh, Heather, Tansy.
There are foods associated with Imbolc as well; pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, poppyseed cakes, muffins, scones, breads, all dairy products, peppers, onions, garlic, spiced wines and herbal teas. (Pumpkin pies seemed to be popular for most holidays, so here is just another excuse to make even more of them!)
Colors that go with Imbolc; white, pink, red, yellow, green and brown. All these colors would be good to put around your home in some way. Use these colors in candles if you like, or wear these colors, or even use ribbons of these colors to tie into your hair along with white flowers.
Incense associated with Imbolc; Wisteria, Cinnamon, Violet, Vanilla, and Myrrh. A little incense is always a good mood setter for if you wish to do a ceremony for Imbolc or just to generally set the mood within your home.
Other good activities are candle lightings, having a family feast, and making priapic wands. A priapic wand is a wand with an acorn on the end of it usually. It is a symbol of fertility, so I suggest only making and using one if you are seeking to have children. No need for a little unplanned surprise, right?
There are various ways to celebrate any wiccan holiday that can be used in any of the holidays. Such as a ritual at the alter for the Goddess and God to thank them or celebrate them. Generally this holiday seems to be dedicated to new life since it is a holiday at the set of leaving winter behind.
Anything you can think of to celebrate the ending of winter would be a very good idea.
