Many women tend to store weight in their upper arms, especially as the years roll by. This can make it difficult to shop for clothing that is comfortable and flattering to the arm region. This article serves as a brief guide to brands that are offering styles that suit women with full arms.
Victoria Secret is a great band to try because their huge product range manages to caters to lots of different figure types. They typically offer several dresses, tops and knitwear items that feature Dolman sleeves. Dolman sleeves are cut much lower then a fitted sleeve, this gives you much more room in the arm region. They drape nicely over the top of the arm, but unlike puff sleeves do not add lots volume to the shoulders. Try the following link
Victoria's Secret dolman styles or search for Dolman sleeve in their search box and you will be rewarded with many styles.
They also often stock kimono sleeves, three quarter sleeves and many raglan styles and sleeves that flare at the bottom. Most of their blouses are quite roomy in the upper arm region; however you will probably find that it's best to go up a size in knitwear pieces. Look for their shirt styles that look roomy around the upper arm, but feature a fitted cuff of some kind. This will help draw the focus to your slimmer wrist area.
The a.n.a brand by J.C penny, which stands for a new approach, was designed to suit the real woman. They are currently offering lots of sleeve styles that flatter women with larger arms. Head to JC Penny a.na and you will find lots of elbow and three quarter length sleeves that will help hide your upper arm region, whilst elongating the appearance of your arms. You will also find flutter styles that drape nicely over the upper arm and raglan styles that help draw the eye downwards, bringing the focus away from your full arms. Their price point is very good if you are watching your pennies.
If you like a feminine, slightly bohemian look, Free people is a brand to watch. They often offer flowing tops, raglan, kimono and dolman sleeves. Check them out if you are after knitwear that doesn't cling to the upper arm, because they usually have something that is loose in this region.
If you like to wear designer duds try brands like Magaschoni and Joie. The Magaschoni range offers a wide range of arms styles, so you are bound to find something suitable. Joie offers lots of pretty pieces and typically have something that will work for the woman with fuller arms.
If you still can't find what you are looking for, then it is a good idea to look into made to measure clothing. This way you can have any style you desire made with enough room in the arm region. If cost is an issue there are lots of Asian based tailors offering their service on eBay, or you could try My Suit shop, which offers good quality construction for a reasonable price.
Finally, there are a few brands that tend to suit skinny arms and are probably best avoided in you have curvier arms. Little Joe by Gail Elliott tops and dresses are often fairly snug in the upper arm region and the same can often be said about dressy pieces by Ralph Lauren.
