Poetry: Autumn leaves

by Victoria Rose Perkins

"Dancing Autumn Leaves Waltz"

Dried and restless crunchy leaves

coaxed into dancing, as they are

being pushed by a chilled wind,

which makes these lazy

Autumn leaves

run down the street.

They swirl around my feet.

Colorful cartwheels swirling and twirling,

dancing and prancing,

heading for my neighbor's lawn.

The chilling wind keeps them dancing

from dusky night to dawn.

I look out my window

at the early break of day,

those busy leaves have

finished their dancing, right

back on my lawn to stay!
