Crocheting is one of the easiest hobbies to master. With limited effort, you can learn a few basic stitches that will set you up to create beautiful gifts and projects. The best part is that crochet projects usually don't take very long to make. Crochet is transports readily so you can take it with you wherever you go, and it works up so quickly that you can make a lot of things without worrying about how to find the time to do so.

Crochet is versatile. You can make clothes, accessories, baby gifts, blankets, jewelry, potholders, towels, purses, lampshades, dolls, and practically anything out of crochet. There are thousands of patterns available, and books out the yin yang to set you on your way, and get you hooked on this fine craft. It's been around so long, that you'll even be able to find antique patterns for making doilies, wedding dresses and more.

Still not convinced that you should learn to crochet? How about discovering how inexpensive most projects are to make? Doilies for instance usually only need one or two skeins of fine crochet thread to make lace that is prettier and finer than most you would find in retail stores. Skeins of yarn or thread rarely cost more than five dollars each. Hooks only run around two to three dollars. Many patterns can be printed for free right off the internet. So for less than ten dollars, you can make a beautiful gift or personal treasure that is better than you would ever be able to purchase in a store.

As if price and versatility weren't enough reasons for you to learn to crochet, there is at least one more reason for you to indulge in the fine art of twisting and hooking yarn or thread into beautiful heirlooms and garments. Crochet is one of the most relaxing hobbies you will ever discover. You can sit and hook your thread while you are visiting with friends, watching television, riding in a car, sick in bed, or listening to music. It's the perfect activity for anyone who wants to keep busy while taking time out.

So there you have it. Crochet is a hobby that produces wonderful crafts with minimal effort. It is inexpensive and quick to learn. Project ideas and patterns are readily available; they are also only limited by your own imagination. As if these reasons were not enough to convince you, crocheting helps your health because it is so relaxing, and that should be reason enough for you to learn to crochet.
