Poetry: Waiting

THE LITTLE GIRL

Sitting in a wheelchair all alone.

Except for toys and a telephone.

A nurse comes in to bring her things.

Her meds, food, but love she does not bring.

She dreams of a time when she could walk.

To run, play and just sit and talk.

She rolls her chair by the bed.

As she gets closer she lowers he head.

"You took my mother and brother too."

"Why am I here, I feel like I've been deserted by you."

I hope my mother and brother are fine,

You should have taken me to, that would have been kind.

Daddy is gone all the time.

All he wants is a bottle of wine.

Please, come and get me I pray

In heaven I'll be able to run and play..

I'll be with Jesus, he can make me well.

He heals children, or so they tell."

The little girl fell asleep crying her tears.

Dreaming of the love she had in past years.

The next morning, the nurse found her with a smile on her face.

She had found love in Gods' grace.

"Tell daddy I'll be with mommy." she signed.

"I love him too." The little girl closed her eyes.
