Vintage prayers floating on air.
The old woman gently combed her hair
as she sat in her frazzled old chair.
Her soul poured out more prayers.
Each one rising up...with great care.
Silent tears began to fall as her head
rested against the cool wintry wall.
She'd suddenly been filled with despair.
Her life had been hard but not unfair.
At times, she'd felt ten feet tall.
On other occasions...rather small.
But life had become a tedious affair.
She began to whisper and stare.
She got up and walked down the hall.
Then she gathered up some bus fare.
She hopped on and she hopped off.
Arriving at the local day care.
As soon as she sat down,
she was smothered with tiny tots.
Each one...clutching a teddy bear.
Her mood had been uplifted.
She now felt exceptionally gifted.
Sitting in that old rocking chair.
She felt like a multimillionaire.
Her unwritten questionnaire
had been answered by a series
of gentle, soothing prayers.
