Weight loss is on the minds of millions. Despite all the fad diet, weight loss plans, pills and clinics they've tried, nothing really seems to work. They read labels, try to eat less and avoid all those fattening but delectable foods. While they manage to lose weight, it soon returns with more pounds tacked on.
It's a constant battle, but it doesn't have to be.
The diet is the first thing people look to when it comes to shedding pounds. But food is not the only reason for a weight problem. Well before you try another weight loss program, you need to know what is the central cause of your problem. Diet is largely responsible, but heredity can play a factor. Weight gain can come from living in a polluted environment or from personal habits that have been developed and adopted over time such as smoking, drinking, lack of sleep and a life of high stress. The air we breathe, the chemicals we take in from pesticides and even prescription drugs can all contribute toward weight gain.
Once you know what is causing that weight to add up, you may not need to spend a fortune on diet pills and plans. You will find it easier to shed those pounds and keep them off. Whatever your problem, you can follow some tips.
Eat more fiber. Today's diet consists of easily digestible foods loaded with sugar, fat and unwholesome ingredients. Your body cannot process artificial chemicals and the additives that come with many foods. What the body cannot process it stores as fat.The body must have fiber. Fiber fills you up quicker and takes longer to digest. The best sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and nuts.
Drink water: Most people don't drink enough water. Drinking a glass of water right before a meal will fill you up so you'll eat less. Water helps to flush out the toxins that commonly stay in the body.
Get exercise. Ours is a sedentary society. Our ancestors lived active lives. They had to hunt and forage for food. Exercise of any kind, whether walking, gardening or weight lifting is beneficial. It improves blood flow, controls blood sugar and helps to purge out impurities.
Eat properly: Most people wolf down their food. They don't take the time to chew food thoroughly before swallowing. Not only does that lead to acid reflux and indigestion, that extra food ends up clogging the colon where it creates more health problems. Thoroughly chewing food allows the stomach the twenty minutes it needs to signal your brain to stop eating.
Eat organic.
