Female bisexuality

Bisexuality can mean many things to different people. For some heterosexual men it can be subject of many erotic fantasies, hopefully involving themselves. The various women who experience attraction to women it can be either an empowering concept or it can be a source of confusion to those who are unsure of their sexuality. In the gay and lesbian community bisexual women often find themselves as social outcast as it is assumed that once she comes out of the closet she will forsake men forever. Those women who refuse to leave the man they are in a relationship with are too often branded as fakes and socially ostracized in the LGBT community.

As a bisexual woman married to a man I have faced many obstacles and mixed emotions over the years. I am very secure in my sexuality, but at the same time am cautious to the feelings of those closest to me. My husband says that he is supportive of my sexuality, but I know at times he wavers on that proclaimed support. My family has disowned me while the other thinks it is just a phase and I will eventually return to being heterosexual For a long time I tried to suppress my attraction to women, but I found that the more I did the stronger the attraction was. Never did I feel that I belonged in the mainstream lesbian community, as I was equally attracted to men sexually as I was to females.

Being a bisexual woman has given me a unique outlook on life, especially in the area of human sexuality and romantic relationships. One common stereotype about bisexual women is that they are promiscuous and unfaithful. While this may be the case with some bisexual women, it can also be said that this applies to straight men as well. Bisexual women are different when it comes to their relationships, some are monogamous with whom ever they are involved with at the time. Others are involved in relationships with more than one person often one male and one female.

I enjoy the unique qualities that are traits of each sex. I appreciate the masculine aspects of men and equally appreciate the aspects of what makes a woman feminine. I consider bisexual women to be a privileged lot of the human race while gays and straights get to only experience one aspect of sexuality. Bisexuals get to experience both and that gives us a unique perspective on life. Variety is the spice of life and being bisexual allows me to enjoy the variety that life has to offer.
