You are ready for a well earned vacation with your family and want to find a rental that is guaranteed to give you everything you need to make your holiday a success. What are the most important factors for your holiday? Make a list and put them in order of importance. You will want to decide on:

- a destination. Are you searching for a place by the sea, in the mountains, or city, how about a place in the countryside or by a lake?

- travel dates (off-season holidays offer a great saving),
- length of your holiday,
- the standard you would like,
- how many beds you will need,
- would you like your own private swimming pool,
- and the amenities you would like close by.

If you are you traveling in your own transport then you are free to explore the area at your leisure. If you are planning your trip using public transport, airplanes, rail, coach you may need a car at your destination, some holiday homes do have cars available, this is something to consider.

There are many alternatives to finding a property. The most obvious today is the internet. Just by entering a phrase in the search box such as "holiday rental homes in Florida" for example, will bring up a list of possibilities. There are private home rentals, and numerous sites where people can list their property.

Listen to friends experiences - their advice can save you a lot of time and trouble.

Travel agents/vacation home managers have the knowledge to help you select a vacation home which will meet your requirements. If you don't have the time to spend searching the Internet this is probably the best alternative.

Newspaper advertisements are also a source of possibilities.

Whichever way you choose, make sure you are dealing with reputable people and not some "con artist". Unfortunately there are a number of scams and hoaxers about, so be vigilant. Do not give out personal information until you are quite sure you are dealing with honest people. Read up on safety rules for dealing over the Internet if you have not already done so. There is also information available on the Internet about scams, so take the time to search for this type of information.

After these words of warning you should be able to find the dream vacation rental of your choice, and have many wonderful memories of a beautiful holiday.
