"Dauntless Dourbark" is an X/X green treefolk warrior printed as a rare for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Lorwyn." This is one of the types of cards printed in the Lorwyn set in which players are encouraged to build decks around certain themes of creatures. In respect to Dauntless Dourback, players are encouraged to build decks around treefolk. With the right cards, Dauntless Dourback becomes an impressive card for the most part.
The converted mana cost for Dauntless Dourback is four. You will need one green mana and three colorless mana to bring Dauntless Dourback from your hand and onto the battlefield. For what the Dauntless Dourback can do, the converted mana cost is well worth it.
What does Dauntless Dourback do?
This is a creature card with two interesting abilities. The first ability says that the power and toughness of the Dauntless Dourback is equal to the number of Forests and Treefolk you control. If you have no treefolk creatures left, you are still good provided that you have Forests on the battlefield. In this respect, if you have seven Forests and five treefolks on the battlefield, Dauntless Dourback becomes a 12/12 creature.
To abuse this ability, you can use "Oracle of Mul Daya" provided that you are playing a strictly green deck. In this respect, you can play an additional land. The top of your library is revealed. If it is a land, you get to play it. In this respect, you can use that ability to constantly increase the power and toughness of Dauntless Dourback. Also, you can use "Sensei's Divining Top" and look at the top three cards of your library before putting them back in any order.
While you do not necessarily need to rely on treefolk, you should have others out. As long as you have at least one other treefolk on the battlefield, Dauntless Dourback gains Trample. If you attack with Dauntless Dourback and your opponent blocks, s/he is taking combat damage. Should you have plenty of Forests and treefolk creatures on the battlefield, you can keep swinging with Dauntless Dourback. In a few turns, you should wipe all of your opponent's life points.
This is great provided that you have plenty of Forests and treefolk cards. Just hope that your opponent does not have this old card from "Legends" called "Acid Rain." Acid Rain is a blue sorcery that destroys all Forests. Should that happen, count on a good chunk of Dauntless Dourback's power and toughness going bye-bye.
Overall, Dauntless Dourback is a great card to have. If you have Forests and other treefolk, this is a great card to have. As long as you are playing aggressively, you can get plenty out of the Dauntless Dourback.
