"Dolmen Gate" is a colorless artifact printed as a rare for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Lorwyn." This is perhaps one of the most interesting artifacts that an aggressive deck player could use. If you have plenty of creatures and are sure that your opponent has little to no creature destruction and/or removal spells, Dolmen Gate becomes a very handy card to have for the most part.
The converted mana cost for Dolmen Gate is two. You need two colorless mana to bring Dolmen Gate from your hand and onto the battlefield. For what Dolmen Gate can do, the converted mana cost is well worth it. It is well worth it provided that you managed to bring Dolmen Gate onto the battlefield early in the game. Since this is an artifact, Dolmen Gate is vulnerable to anything that affects artifacts.
What does Dolmen Gate do in the first place?
If you attack and your opponents end up blocking, Dolmen Gate prevents all combat that damage that your attacking creatures suffer. In this respect, you can constantly attack with little to no repercussions via Dolmen Gate. In this respect, it comes in extremely handy. Your valuable creatures get saved in the process as a result of Dolmen Gate's ability.
The ability is very simplistic. In many cases, simplistic is good. Dolmen Gate is by all means an example of how simplicity is a good thing. For any aggressive deck player, Dolmen Gate is very handy. Aggressive deck players are heavily reliant upon creatures. If they have little to no creatures, they are boats without a paddle. Since aggressive deck players need creatures, Dolmen Gate is an excellent card to have.
You can constantly attack with your creatures and wipe out your opponent's defending creatures. With Dolmen Gate on the battlefield, you do not have to worry about your creatures being taken out. With the right combination of cards, you can keep attacking and attacking and not have to worry about losing your creatures. Keep in mind that this only pertains to combat damage. Dolmen Gate does not defend against sorceries and abilities that deal other forms of damage to creatures. Also, Dolmen Gate does not defend against creature destruction and creature removal.
Overall, Dolmen Gate is a great card to have provided that you are playing aggressively. For any aggressive deck player, Dolmen Gate is a very excellent card to be using for the most part. With the current expansion set known as "Zendikar" out, Dolmen Gate goes good with cards such as "Rampaging Baloths."
