The day you came into my life,
a sense of purpose filled my being.
My walls didn't seem quite so insurmountable,
as you gently chipped away each stone.
Day by day the walls began to crumble,
under the weight of your love and compassion.
Letting a glimmer of your smile pass through,
sustained the beat that had grown so faint.
At times I knew you too grew weary,
and withdrew your strong arm for a season.
In time, regaining your fortitude,
you pressed toward the inner chambers.
As you clutched my hand in yours,
the light of your spirit shattered my darkness.
All that remains are the shadows,
powerless to imprison me again.
Though I hear not your tender tapping,
your memory is forever etched onto my soul.
The remembrance of your warm embrace,
solidifies the precious bonds of passion.
