Innocent, unloved, and pure
was the young fragile heart
barely quivering from within,
longing for someone...anyone
to love her.
Cruel words embedded daily
piercing deeply to the inner crevices
of her withering spirit,
unrelenting,venomous, and malignant
devouring her slowly.
Giving her no earthly reason
to grasp for a simple breath,
silence would be merciful
voiceless, heedless, impervious
to attempt to inhale.
Letting go of this horrid torture
would be welcomed bliss
never having to scrounge
for a mere sweet drop
to whet the insatiable thirst
to be loved.
