Poetry: Halloween

ALL HALLOWS' EVE

The night is dark and brings with it fear
The dead walk the earth this one night every year

Dark secrets, ages old, come back to haunt the living
Long lost troubled souls return to ask forgiving

Demons search for souls to steal for some ungodly reason
All Hallows' Eve, a creepy night, but such a funny season

When store's get ready for Christmas time
And normal people dress out of line

The children dress up to beg in the streets
For Halloween candy and other treats

They walk the night to collect so much
But when they get home, they dare not touch

Alas... their haul is not safe to consume
Until it is x-rayed, and checked for poison

It seems that the souls of the dead we fear
Are walking among us more often each year

So beware, my friend, of All Hallows' Eve
Because your next door neighbors are not safe to believe

Watch out for your children and keep them close
Protect them from the evil in rotted souls

For the night is dark and brings with it fear
When the living walk the earth
with dead hearts
this one night every year
