Poetry: Heartache

by Christine Stoddard

Created on: October 30, 2009

"Mosquito Bite"

I will dwell in your heart's leaky cave

amongst moonlit candles and rat bones,

eating nothing but the blood from your veins.

Call it Heaven or Hell-it's in between

Venus and Mars, too far to gauge.

Love will not save because I'm beyond it.

No longer craving your heart, it feeds me

in between its thunderous beats...

for I became the mosquito

with only nourishment on my mind.
