Why should I consider yoga?

Is life getting the better of you? Do you feel out-of-sorts? Depressed? Flabby? Do you need a lift? Here it is - YOGA, the ultimate therapy!

Some people mistakenly believe that to practice yoga you must be a contortionist, able to stand on your head; maybe they saw a demonstration of very advanced yoga!

The fact is that many of the very simple exercises of yoga bring immense benefits - yes, you may even lose weight as there are poses that stimulate the metabolic rate and the thyroid. As a bonus to weight loss, muscles will become toned and the flabbiness that often results from an abrupt loss is avoided. What's more, with yoga, there is no dramatic build up of muscle such as sessions in the gym might produce; instead,a graceful shape will emerge.

Modern life frequently leads to tension and insomnia, both of which leave you exhausted, unable to cope with the daily demands of children and the household. A simple course of yoga for a busy mom, guided by an expert teacher, will restore energy, can reverse aging, induce a tranquil mind and natural, restful sleep - help yourself to a facelift, too ...

Yoga exercises are slow and deliberate, combined with essential deep breathing [ many of us are "shallow breathers" and unaware of it]. The slow stretching and relaxing of muscles allows them to benefit from the newly oxygenated blood that has resulted from the deep breathing. Circulation has been stimulated and revitalized; you will look and feel different after only one session - and be looking forward to the next one!

It's not possible to enjoy all that life offers if you're always feeling below par, lacking in energy and enthusiasm. Yoga teachers advertise courses, so go ahead and find one near you or maybe near where you regularly shop.

Resolve to regain that spring in your step, the youthful sparkle in your eye and the glowing skin that you used to have. It's worth giving yoga a try, so invest some time in yourself.
