Trick or Treat Worry Free

Halloween can be a nerve racking holiday for protective parents. The idea of people running around en masse, dressed in costumes and mask none the less, can be daunting. Here are a few ways to help keep the fun for your child and the peace of mind for yourself.

Group Up

One of the best ways to protect your child, especially if they are going out without your supervision, is to make sure they travel in a group of at least 3-5 people. Children in large groups are far less likely to come across any stranger danger scenarios.

Stay Local

Some parents are not so much worried about who's out and about as they are what gets put in their child's trick or treat bag. Staying local in your own neighborhood can help ease that anxiety. Your more likely to not be suspicious of who is giving your child candy if those people are neighbors and friends whom you are familiar with.

Try an Event

Instead of your child prowling around at night, knocking on stranger's doors, why not try taking them to a Halloween type event in your town. Lots of cities and towns throw their own Halloween bash normally targeted towards children and as a safe alternative. Many businesses and malls throw similar Halloween events. You may even want to try a professional haunted house for a scary thrill for the kids, If you are lucky enough to live close to an amusement park, you can normally count on several Halloween themed attractions, games and rides. An Amusement park usually has great haunted houses to try as well. They are good places to do many activities in one place.

Have Fun at Home

Why not throw a Halloween party for your child. They could have lots of fun and candy at home while playing fun Halloween games and having contest like pumpkin carving or bobbing for apples. Not only would your child have a blast, but you have the security of direct supervision in a safe environment.

With all the negative press about Halloween each year it's enough to make a parent tear out their hair with all the stress and anxiety. Urban legends and negative media reports can make for even more anxiety. By you and your child discussing safe guidelines and coming up with a plan, you and your family can have a exciting and safe Halloween this year.
