Pine cones falling to the ground is a sign that Christmas is coming soon! Kids love playing with pine cones and making Christmas crafts so blending the two together is the perfect way to let your kids create Christmas crafts! If you look at the shape of the pine cone, you can see how the tree shape complements Christmas crafting fun. This free source of inspiration offers entertaining fun to your children. Head out to the backyard or the park and collect a bag of pine cones. When you are back home, try a few of these fabulous Christmas crafts.
Skiing Santa
Paint a medium-sized pine cone red. Glue it large side down to two popsicle stick skis. Draw a face on a bead. Glue on a beard with cotton. Glue toothpicks to the skis and the pine cone to create ski poles. Cut the finger tip off of a red glove to create a hat. Glue a small white pompom to the top. Cut a small rectangle from red felt a scarf. (It should cover the tops of the skis.)
Christmas Game
This cone-shaped Christmas craft can bring hours of fun entertainment. Cut a piece of red tag board in half diagonally. Curve the top edges of the triangle. Decorate one of the halves with Christmas stickers or draw Christmas designs on it. Staple a six to eight-inch piece of round elastic to the bottom point of the paper. Curl thin red and green ribbon and staple them close to the elastic. While forming a cone from the paper, let the curled ribbon fall out of the end, by the point. The elastic should lie in the opposite direction and fall out of the top of the cone. Tie a small pine cone on the other end of the elastic. Holding the cone in the middle, swing the cone in the air and try to catch it.
Christmas Tree
Create a tree trunk with brown clay that air-dries and put a thin layer of craft glue on the tip. Firmly, yet gently push the pine cone on to the clay and let it dry. Add dabs of green to the ends of the needles and lightly sprinkle glitter over the cone. Once it is dry, glue round, colorful, plastic beads to the needles. Wrap thin, colorful wire around the pinecone. Make a star from yellow tag board. Add gold glitter and glue it to the top of the tree. To decorate your tree, make a skirt from a square of Christmas fabric. Set it on the fireplace mantel.
Little Ornaments
Small cones make great tree ornaments. Tie a piece of wire around the wide end of the pine cone. Form a loop. Cover the cone with a thin coat of white glue. Place it in a bag of glitter, seal it and shake the bag. Remove the cone and let
