"The Storm"
Sin can sometimes creep into our life without warning. A simple, thought, gesture or action may pull us down a road that we were not intending to travel on. We may not even be fully aware of the darkness that has begun to encompass our life.
Have you ever been heading into a storm from afar? The light sky makes the storm appear dark, luminous and dangerous. when you keep driving and get closer to the storm it just doesn't appear to be so dark, luminous or dangerous.
That is what it is like to live in sin.when your living in sin the storm just doesn't appear to be so bad-in fact, you might even enjoy the storm. The darkness can consume you and you may not even be aware of the fact that you are no longer living in the light. Once you've truly walked away from sin, the last thing you want to do is to drive back into that storm. You can see the destruction and devastation that the storm is bringing and you run from it.
Are you currently living in the storm?
God gives us the way out of the storm. Christ's sacrifice on the cross freed us from the sins that we have committed. We are called to repent and turn from our sins. Sometimes turning from our sin is a difficult thing for us to do. In Philippians God gives us a technique to overcome sin in our life.
Philippians 4:8
Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
If you are living honestly it will be difficult to be dishonest. It you are living a life of purity it will be difficult to be impure. Obedience and sin cannot exist at the same time. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us to " take every thought captive" We have the ability and power through God to overcome sin. Sinning is a choice. God has given you the free will to either live in the storm or chose to live in the radiance of the Son.
I am not writing this to condemn anyone." We all sin and fall short of the glory" I 'm writing this to share my views on sin and to help other's understand the meaning of sin.
