Which type of articles do not fare well with Helium raters

There are some articles that you can really earn a lot of money from, and articles that you can get a high rank with. There are even articles that you can do both with, and usually earning money is a direct result of the rank that your article has. However, there are ways that you want to write your articles to have them do well, and ways to write your articles so that they do nothing but tank. So how do you manage to get your article well liked with the raters?

If you can, stay away from a lot of first person stuff. There are times when you can get away with first person, and sometimes it even lends a little credence to what you are saying. However, don't write an article about a technical topic by saying what you think. Use research, and solid information to back up whatever point you might have been trying to make yourself.

Keep the editorializing out as much as possible as well. While you might feel that you are simply writing an article, or a quick piece that is only going to be of value to the community, you have to realize that a lot of other people are going to see this. You aren't going to be able to get a lot of followers if you are too biased, or continually throw your own opinions in. Those are for your blog, or a debate topic.

Do format your articles correctly. Articles that aren't written with good spelling, and at least passable grammar aren't going to do well. Stay away from writing an article that turns into one big paragraph. Also, be familiar with the rules of Helium because you aren't supposed to use bylines, and yet some people will do that. Don't worry, you will get credit for your work once the article publishes.

Off-topic articles aren't going to do well either. You can interpret the title a little bit, but once you get too far off topic, the article is going to become lower in the eyes of the rater. If the topic is the best quarterback between Manning and Brady, and you talk about Drew Brees, you might get rated lower. Either weave in another person carefully, or create a new topic.

Those are the basic things that are going to get your article rated lower in the eyes of the Helium community. If you can stick to the basic rules of the Helium community, and the English language, you are going to do OK. Otherwise just write good articles, and just keep doing what you love to do.
