Poetry: Understanding death

by Kat Apf

Created on: October 29, 2009   Last Updated: July 09, 2011

After a brief blip in darkness,
whirling through a swirl
of sweet lullabies
and a healing, comforting warmth
you realize all the stinging
spikes of anxiety
are no longer
searing through your chest.

When you open your eyes
all your people,
who have braved the unknown
before you
are there-
at their best,
smiling, dancing
and radiating hues of love

All at once
all the answers
you've spent a lifetime
chasing come speeding
through and you know
and you have peace.

Finally. . .
