Part time work tips for the under 18's

if you are under the age of 18, there are going to be restrictions on the amount of work that you can do. There will be hour limits, restrictions on the hours that you can work, and restrictions on the tools that you can use while at work. This certainly puts limits on where you can work, and what kind of work that you can have. These rules are put in place so that you can still go to school, and for your own safety. The limits might be annoying, but here are some places where you can maximize your earning potential.

Chances are you are going to have to work in some sort of retail, or service industry. This is because these are the places that you can work a few hours a day, and you don't have to be overly skilled to work either. The turnover is pretty high, so you can come and go as you please, and you don't have to do anything more than doing things the right way. They will train you, and make sure that you are skilled enough to do your job.

If you have a computer, and you have some free time after school, you might want to turn to the Internet for a job. If you are an aspiring writer, or have some business skill, you might want to take a chance at starting your own business, or writing for a site like Helium. While there are limits on the number of hours you would be able to work for a company, there are no income limits. The good thing about being a freelancer, or your own boss is that you can limit your hours as you wish.

You also don't need that many hours a week to get back when you are in high school. Your parents are going to take care of the majority of the expenses that you have. You might think you are taking care of yourself, but when you get older and have rent, car payments, and loans to pay off, you will realize what I mean. This is the time of life to take the chances with your own business, or with different jobs. You don't have that same luxury later in life.

Don't expect too much if you are under 18. Most of the better jobs are going to go to those with the most experience. This doesn't mean you can't try to move up a little bit, but you should realize that your big chances are going to come either just at the end of college, or after school. Businesses like those who have experience, and a proven track record, so just go in and pay your dues for a little bit, and just do what is asked of you.

There isn't much that you can do before the age of 18. You are limited by the fact that you have to go to school, have a limited availability, and other child labor laws. You are also held back by a lack of experience that makes finding a job other than being a cashier, or a stock person something you could achieve. Don't fret though, just work hard now, and good things will come down the line.
