I wish for quiet dreamless sleep
and moonlit starry nights
I fear my soul I cannot keep
for In my dreams I soar to heights
then plummet to the ground
I hear the laughing in my head
it tears into my heart, the sound
I wake up screaming in my bed
Clutching my covers to me
sure that I will wake up dead
if such a thing could be
filled I am with awful dread
Always I am falling fast
wicked laughter all around
one dream just like the last
the only change that I have found
Each time I fall a little nearer
when all is over I will die
this I am see ever clearer
what I don't see is the reason why
I'll sleep no more to change my fate
I'll simply stay awake as days go by
for on the other side of sleep does wait
something wicked drawing nigh . . .
