In this hard pressed economy a good job is what most desire, so why anyone need to find excuses for not going to work everyday. How about telling the truth. Your child is sick and there is no one else to care for them. That should be excuse enough if it is true. And if it isn't why use it? Maybe you are sick and tired of the whole work environment and almost have an anxiety attack just walking the in the front door.
If that's the case, you need help or you need another job. Since there are other needs than yours and your family must eat and have a roof over their heads, the paycheck this crummy job brings in does have some value for you. Consider that before you finally quit and then possibly end up out on the street. First of all be truthful with yourself. How much of the boring, hectic, or dread to be there day is your fault. If none is, then whose fault is it?
Whatever real or imagined reason you have for dreading work, thinking up excuses not to go there is no solution. If you are genuinely fed up, talk to your boss. Explain to them that you dread coming to work each day and tell them the reason if it is one that can be reasonably thought through. Nothing is as bad as telling lies and getting your self deeper into the deep, dark gloom of having nothing better to do than to think up excuses for staying home. Nothing is worth that kind of torture.
Of course if you are determined that you must find excuses for not going to work every day, why not get the real one. I can't stand the way everyone ignores me and laughs behind my back; I know who is cheating the company and I don't know how to deal with this secret; I am being threatened by one of the employees and I am afraid of going to work. I am being harassed by you and I can't take it any more. If you are going to end up in the hospital over such a bad work place then the sooner you deal with your need for excuses, the better. Get some help in dealing with those who despise you and learn to ignore them. Turn your dread into going to work with a real joy of going there each day with a new chance of proving you are capable. Let them take that to the bank!
As for that cheat who is filching funds from the company, tell the boss. Catch them in the act and report them. Report that employee who is threatening you to the police. Face up to whatever black mail attempt they have against you. What have you done in the past that allows this kind of behavior to continue? Now the big one! Stop harassing me. Them that the time they make inappropriate advances toward you, you are calling your lawyer. And his wife, or her husband, or both.
At work, do the job you were hired to do and if you are not as adept as you want to, learn. Go to night school or get a mentor. Stand up for yourself and stop stockpiling those excuses for calling in with lame excuses. The next time you cannot go to work and must call in, make sure you get your story straight. The road is blocked and you are stalled in traffic, you are down with pneumonia but will be there when you get out of the hospital, your child is sick, or something else that is equally shocking but real.
