Thanksgiving is a holiday that involves a lot of work on the part of adults. It can sometimes seem hard to find activities that will keep children engaged during the holiday. Thanksgiving coloring activities are one way to make the kids feel involved while feeding their creativity and teaching them about the reasons that we celebrate. There are many sources online to find coloring activities for your children to enjoy.
Disney's Family Fun website offers several coloring pages geared towards younger children. The coloring pages, including a Tom Turkey, and Thanksgiving Parade, and a background for a turkey handprint can be found here: http://familyfun.go.com/thanksgiving/thanksgiving-pr intables/thanksgiving-coloring-pages/. The website also provides a handful of other activities for kids to enjoy on their own or with adults.
Coloringpages.net has a much larger selection of coloring activities. With 40 different pages to choose from, the kids are sure to stay busy. The complexity of these pages ranges from very basic to very detailed, so there are options for kids of all ages. Link here: http://coloringpages.net/thanksgiving.html to browse through them all.
For pre-school aged children, www.preschoolcoloringbook.com has over twenty pages for little fingers to color. Most of their pictures have wide spaces that "fat" crayons will easily navigate. This website also has coloring pages available for other holidays that are easy to link to. To find the Thanksgiving pages, go to this page: http://www.preschoolcoloringbook.com/color/cpthanksg iving.shtml.
For more advanced artists, www.theteacherscorner.net has great printables. They are all in Adobe Acrobat, so make sure you have already downloaded this on your computer to print. You can also link to some great educational activities pulled straight from teachers' lesson plans. The coloring pages can be found at http://www.theteacherscorner.net/printable-worksheet s/coloring-pages/thanksgiving/.
Blackdog4kids.com offers an interesting take on coloring books. For those who don't want to print pages, they provide the ability to color online. When on the site, children can pick from several pictures and an online box of colors. Each page can be colored by simply pointing and clicking on the page. All of these coloring pages at http://blackdog4kids.com/holiday/thanks/color/ can also be printed for those who want to keep the kids off of the computer.
Coloring is one of the joys of childhood, and it will never lose its popularity among the little ones. Providing lots of coloring activities for the kids to choose from on Thanksgiving will keep them happy and entertained for hours. You can have a coloring contest with all of the kids and reward the winner with a small prize, like the chance to sit at the adult table. If there are enough colored pages, you can use each piece of artwork as a place card for the dinner table. No matter what you choose to do with their artwork after they are finished, you can be sure that the kids are guaranteed to have a good time!
