Many people have fast food as a part of their weekly diet. People get busy during their day and don't seems to find enough time to cook. These quick meals are often seen as a very attractive option due to their low price, convenience, and ability to get them fast. The downside is that these meals can have a very negative impact on your health when they are consumed all the time.
Fast Food
The typical fast food meal consists of a burger, fries and a soda drink. These foods don't really give you enough nutrition to get you through your day. They can be filling for a time but often later once they wear off you get hungry again. The high levels of sugar, salt, and animal fats are hard on your body and lack the necessary fiber for proper digestion. These meals also contain too many calories that your body will store as fat if you don't exercise enough and to burn off these types of meals you would have to exercise very hard.
If you eat fast food everyday you can actually be starving your body because of the lack of adequate nutrition and the nutrition you do get comes with additives, sugar, salt and animal fats. Even salads at these places come with high-fat dressings and additions such as croutons, bacon bits, cheese, eggs and sliced meats which turn a healthy salad into a diet nightmare. These types of foods should only be consumed occasionally and not everyday or weekly because they don't have what your body requires to function properly.
At home you can make your own fast food type meals. Try a multi-grain hamburger bun, low fat meat patty, extra vegetables on the burger and a salad with an olive-oil based dressing. You have now just turned a high-fat meal into a low fat alternative meal. Instead of sugary pop try a fruit smoothie which tastes just like a milkshake if done properly. You can make your own pizza with a multi-grain crust and vegetables instead of meat. there are many ways to enjoy fast-food type meals at home with some creativity.
Conclusion
Start seeing fast-food for what it should be. These meals should be an occasional treat meal or not eaten at all. They no nothing for your health and over consumption can lead to weight gain or other health problems. Look to healthier alternatives you can make at home where you have control over what goes into your meal.
