Poetry: Until I die

by Sid de Knees

No turning back.

When I have faced and beat this peak,
there'll be another peak to face,
I'm not a one man hill no more,
as wrote before, "I know my place".
Upon one mountain top, somewhere,
I plan to leave my heart to rest,
and walk on then to other hills,
thus quashing each internal test.

'Til I discover utter peace,
as some Tibetan monk may do,
though radical it may well seem,
"Unto myself I must be true".
I've kin to tend between the climbs,
and friends prepared to comfort falls,
I have a soul inside of me,
and I must tend his pain-filled calls.

I cannot fail my soul, no more,
by giving in to whims and so's,
why I have led the life I have,
well only heaven truly knows.
But I shall not fall him again,
his wish is my one sole command,
and as I tend his inner scars,
I'll hug and take him by the hand.
