Poetry: Let me go

by Sid de Knees

I'm going now

I've set my compass point to North,
and turned my life around at last,
all I have done is underlined,
and I have boxed up all my past,
I shall not walk the lower plains,
I'm meant for roaming frozen peaks,
I've just been sat denying it,
through lonely days and aching weeks.

Afraid of truth I told myself,
my southern trip would be okay,
but when life gets us down so much,
we find no joy in any way,
we have to re-address, I guess,
and as I did I found that I,
was fooling myself for too long.
Accepting truth destroyed the lie,

That blanketed my sense of self,
like snow will cover mountain tops,
and now I recognize I know,
that this is where the fooling stops,
when someone wants the world but you,
have just a square of soil to give,
I guess it's time to let them go,
thus then enhancing how we live.
