Poetry: Lost love

I think about you when I'm looking ahead
And also in moments of reminiscence
But do me a favor and don't ask me
To tell you the difference
Because I won't be able to explain it
I named you in my prayers and everything
And even tried to claim it
But to no avail
The stubborn part of me wants to keep pursuing you
While the other says oh well
And wants to make you pay
Wants to make you want me the same way

But I don't want you to give up
On the possibility of you and I
So I wade through the waves of your impatient sighs
Hoping that you'd be patient enough to avoid
The ultimatum of our demise

I remain lost in my thoughts in the direction
Of your eyes
I'm searching for the proof
I pay attention to every word you say
I don't want you to think that I am aloof

But when we took pictures together
You didn't want the prints
You just took the negatives
I asked you to picture us together
But you just saw the negative
And I'm positive
That if we are ever going to work out
Then we need to compromise

Part of me wants to man up and act like I don't care
But the fact is, I do
I can't deny it
And I refuse to try it
I aim to give all I have
Even though I don't know what it'll take
I'm holding on to the possibility of you and I
For Old Times' Sake

And I still picture
The sun creeping through the window
Just to touch your face
And I'm in a race
Because heaven wants you back as much as I do
Yeah, that was clich
And it was equally as corny
But what else will get through?
I've given up trying to be smooth
-No silver-tongued quips
-No influx of charm
Just my heart on one sleeve
With you on the other arm

Your picture is worth TEN thousand words
This here is just a caption
Shakespeare once said, All the world's a stage
Well this is mine
With no lights, no camera, Just action
No acting
I'm being real
Even though what I say may not accurately
Convey how I feel

A-ha! I've discovered the truth
People aren't falling in love anymore
They're falling in- secure
They stay in relationships
Because their other half is all they know
When deep inside they're not sure

Well I've had my taste of being away
And if you ask me,
It's completely overrated
They're all part of the same game
Sleepwalkers who no longer dream
Cause reality has them sedated

So what choice do I have?
I'm stubborn, -that's a given
I've wronged you in some way
And I pray that I'm forgiven
I'm a romantic that's hopeless
Keeping my eye on you, my locus
Trying not to lose focus

And things are crystal clear
This distance between us isn't working for me
It's just not my cup of tea
Because I need you right here
