How to find vacation homes rented by owners

Vacation homes, rented by owners, offer many more advantages, than renting a hotel room. Vacation rental homes are much better suited for those who have children and/or those who want to pool in their money together and share amenities.

Searching online is the best way to secure your vacation rental home. Once you have a destination, you can learn where these homes are located, the size, the price and even photos to see what the inside looks like.

Most real estate websites list vacation homes for rent, and you can get quite a bit of information from them. However, it is better to single out websites that cater exclusively to vacation homes rented by owners directly. The number of home rentals are continuing to grow. This is in the renter's favor. Due to an unstable economy, some property owners are offering their vacation homes for rent, so they can keep financially afloat. So, you will not find a shortage of choices.

To begin your search, go to a search engine, like Google, and type in the words, "vacation rentals by owners" (include the city/town/state.) This will bring up a wide variety to view. You will be able to look over the choices and choose one that meets your needs and fits your budget. Another advantage, is you can contact the owner by phone/email to ask further questions.

Here are a few websites to start your search:

1. VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owners)

2. www.vacationrentals411.com

3. http://www.vacationrentals.com

On the homeowners rental page, you will find out if the home is pet-friendly, what attractions are in the local area of the rental home, and usually many more pictures of the vacation rental are available, than by real estate listings. As mentioned, you can have direct contact.

Vacation homes, rented by owners, will list everything you need to know about the home. Some ask that you supply your own sheets and/or towels. Others include them with the rental home. If there are "special rates" to be had, during off-seasons, these too will be listed. And, the price is right upfront. If there is a cleaning fee, it will be noted. However, most owners arrange to take care of this themselves.

Once you have settled on a vacation rental of your choice, its time now to think about enjoying that upcoming vacation. All you need to do is pack your bags, and your home away from home will be waiting for you.
