Poetry: Green

I view the world through emerald eyes

Is that why I love green?

It draws me in

Salves my soul

Smoothes my furrowed brow

Such power in its gentle hues

Verdant, mighty spikes

Spring's bright buds and brave little shoots

Lay waste to winter's bane

A rain frog on my window sill

Shiny, shimmery, slick

Foreground for an artwork of pines

A study in dark and light

Moss and algae

Apples and leaves

A chameleon's vague profile

Salad greens, parrot's plumes

Money's somber tones

Sordid shades of jealousy

Bitter taste of bile

Surprise in a chunk of grandpa's chaw

My nephew had to try

Cool, dark shade of jungle's canopy

Merging shades of a gem glittering sea

Riotous blend on a mountainside

Nature's panorama

Myriad hues emblazon our world

Insipid pastels lend diversity

Blue sky's to be treasured

This I avow

Just leave me to bask in green
