Have you ever wanted to create ringtones without having to pay exorbitant prices? I have, and I was happy when Apple decided to give its iPhone users the ability to create ringtones from songs that were in their iTunes libraries. However, the developers of Ringtone Recorder decided to give an app a go, and I decided to try it out. Thankfully, Apple was already one step ahead and its quality outshines Ringtone Recorder's. So, if you want to be able to create your own ringtones, use your iTunes library instead.
The premise for Ringtone Recorder is simple and it is quite interesting. All you have to do is record a song and then you can use the app to turn it into a ringtone. I find that creating a ringtone from an existing song in my iTunes library is even easier, however. And, the quality is much better. For example, look at all the usage instructions that come with Ringtone Recorder. I have to follow at least six or seven steps until I can create a ringtone. And, the ringtone that results is usually inferior. However, when I create ringtones using iTunes, I can do so in the same amount of steps, or less, and I can get a ringtone that sounds like I bought it. The quality is truly superb.
The one pro that Ringtone Recorder seems to have is that you have the ability to record almost any sound or piece of music that you want. So, if you have a favorite "quote" from a television show, you can record it and it can be your ringtone. If you have a funny sound that you'd like to hear over and over again, that can easily be your ringtone, too. If you want to record yourself singing, that can be your ringtone. But, the result that you get is not a very good one; if you want low quality playback that you can barely hear or sometimes even distinguish, you should use this app.
This is not to say that the developers of Ringtone Recorder were inept. In fact, I applaud them for creating such an innovative ringtone that will probably help thousands, if not millions, of iPhone users. However, they do need to fix the quality of the playback results, or else they will have a lot of unhappy customers. They also need to fix any bugs that exist within the app, or else they will get the bad reviews that they already get for their current version.
All in all, Ringtone Recorder is a great idea but it should be executed better. If you want to create quality ringtones, I suggest that you use the songs from your iTunes library.
