The jagged teeth of truth pierce through
our thick skin of apathy, other subtle indifferences
and disregard for our companions living on this vast earth.
The jagged teeth of emotion rip and tear through
layer upon layer of superficiality and deceit.
Allowing us to say I LOVE YOU
when before we would have been too afraid.
The jagged teeth feel soothing as they part my flesh.
They rip away the cancerous growths
of self-pity, hollowness and laziness.
They reveal a shining truth.
There is a small but growing worth inside of me.
