How to plan a wedding in 2 months

Congratulations! You're getting married and the big day is just 2 months away. Although there's a lot to do in a small amount of time, by following this time line, you can put on a wonderful wedding and it will look as if you've been planning this event for at least a year.

Week 1. Create an intimate guest list- This list should be carefully thought out and seriously condensed. Remember that having a large crowd means having to book a large ceremony/ reception space, large amounts of food, and a large cake, which can all prove to be very difficult since most vendors are booked at least a year in advance. Your guest list should be filled with family and the very closest of friends. Once that list is created, there is no need to purchase invitations; save time and money by sending e-vites. They're electronic invitations that guests will receive instantly and will have more time to R.S.V.P and take off time from work.

http://www.evite.comoffers free evites, you can design your own invitations and keep track of R.S.V.P's.

Week 2. Location, Location, Location- Where is the big event going to take place? If at a church, call the church administrator to see if the church is available on your wedding date. Think about having the event on a weekday or in the early evening to increase the possibility of availability. If you are a member of the church, you will more than likely receive a discount of services rendered. The pastor may even be available or have a minister on staff that will be available to perform the ceremony. Go a step further and inquire about whether or not there is extra space in the church building for a reception. Most churches now have separate reception halls for church functions. If you are having a secular wedding, call up your favorite restaurant or a small night club to see if they are available that day. Most venues will require at least a 25% down payment so be sure to put that in the budget. Try to find a venue that will include decorating in the price of the reception hall rental.

Week 3. What are you going to wear? Now is the time to find tuxedos and gowns off the rack . You would be amazed at the deals that you'll find on last minute tuxes and gowns. Davids bridal has a plethora of gowns to choose from for women of all shapes and sizes and now carry tuxes as well. Call a local store in your area and schedule a fitting together for yourselves and the wedding party.

Week 4. Entertainment- Now's the time to choose your DJ, videographer/ photographer, transportation, baker, and caterer. Shop around and get advice from family and friends on vendors that they have used in the past. Most vendors give discounts to customers that were referred to them, so be sure to ask around for good references. As far as the food menu is concerned, why not try a buffet-style reception and get family members to help with the cooking. This can reduce costs and family and friends are usually very eager to help for such a momentous occasion. You can also check websites such as http://www.craigslist.com for entertainment. Be sure to check references and check portfolios before making a final decision.

Final weeks- The final 4 weeks should be dedicated to finalizing the guest list and hiring help to ensure that the big day goes smoothly. Start making plans for a small rehearsal dinner and honeymoon arrangements. Get plenty of rest and try to stay drama. Now is not the time for stress. Lastly, enjoy each other and try to focus on your upcoming marriage and not just the wedding, after all your marriage is for a lifetime...again, congrats!
