What's entertainment?

Our mood or attitude can greatly enhance or diminish what we would consider entertainment, and I say that because entertainment in itself does not make for an enjoyable evening unless it is what we are in the mood for. Regardless of what it is, there is no joy or satisfaction derived from entertainment if our mood is very dark, or are very depressed. Like anything, if something is to be enjoyed, it has to be when we are free to do so without having the weight of what bothers us all day long.

What entertains us can come in many different forms, and this could be anything from a cute animal doing something that makes us laugh, or a full fledged comedy or drama that we pay money to see. It doesn't have to come from other sources either. Sometimes the best time one can have, is enjoying the most simplest forms of entertainment, whether it be listening to your favorite music, or watching a favorite program.

Almost anything that provides a change for the better in our overall feeling, such as when we can laugh, or feel enriched, as well as anything else that would provide for a nice relaxing evening. What may be entertaining to some, may just be a total boring experience for others. It's not so much the entertainment, but how we are influenced by what the entertainment offers us.

Yet, regardless of what we as individuals think is great entertainment, there are always those who think the opposite, and it has nothing to do with the quality of what we are experiencing. All the special effects in the world doesn't mean anything if it doesn't have substance, or what it takes to reach the hearts and minds of those in the audience. A movie can be made in just one room, never seeing anything of the outside world, but yet, if done right, it can be a box office hit as a result of how well it reaches the audience.

No entertainment in the world can deliver us from a deep depression, and sometimes it only adds to depression, because no matter what is going on, it just isn't accepted, and at most kind of tolerated. But entertainment in itself by design, is what moves us in one direction or another, and how it is perceived by each individual that makes it worthwhile.

Sometimes we are in such a mood that almost anything can make us laugh or cry, but depending on what the mood is, it just might take something spectacular to do so.
