With Christmas fast approaching, there is no better time than now to start planning your Christmas gift shopping list and what easier gift idea than a new DVD for your loved ones. This year there have been several new television shows leading the way in popularity, that will indeed be big hits this Christmas season. These television shows range from the quirky to the dark and there is bound to be something for everyone.

Everyone's favourite serial killer Dexter returned to our screens this year for season 4, however for those Dexter fans out there, why not get them season's one to three for Christmas. The special edition of these DVDs each have something exciting going on with the packaging, like a blood style plastic sleeve or a crime scene case. Dexter is a perfect choice for those of your loved ones who love a good thriller and a bit of a scare. Perhaps for the young men in your family.

Another thriller style television show that is fast gaining popularity is True Blood. This vampire style show is bound to have increased in popularity along with the new wave of Twilight fans looking for something more between now and the release of New Moon. True Blood has a combination of everything. Sex appeal, scares and a bit of humour. It would be ideal for the older teenagers in the family or young adults, particularly fans of Twilight and other vampire shows. And if they already have the True Blood seasons on DVD, why not try one of the other newer style vampire shows. There is The Vampire Diaries or Moonlight for those wanting a little something extra.

For the children in the family, there are always many family favourites on DVD that would make perfect Christmas gifts. Try a Nickelodeon style animated feature or perhaps for the older children, there is always another season of The Simpsons hitting the shelf. This will appeal to many adults also.

NCIS and CSI remain popular choices and with so many seasons coming out, there is bound to be a season your loved one is yet to add to their collection, so use Christmas as an opportunity to assist them in completing their much loved television serious collection.

And for a bit of family friendly with some quirk and humour, why not go for Seasons 4 of How I Met Your Mother or My Name Is Earl. They may not appeal to everyone, but there is bound to be a bit of a giggle from even the hardest to please individuals.

There is a DVD television series out there for all tastes and preferences. Find out what shows your family and friends love and gift the gift of entertainment this Christmas season. DVDs are an easy option, and the variety is endless. Now you will just have to resist the temptation of buying them all for yourself too.
