Hazleton, PA law on illegal immigrants. Protection of US citizens or violation of immigrant rights?

When Hazelton, PA. passed the law that prohibited the hiring of and renting of housing to illegal immigrants in their town, they did so to protect the US citizens, something our own government has failed to do effectively.

When our own government does little to protect the rights of US citizens, there should be no question as to the right for any state to take steps to protect their own citizens, yet this is exactly what happened to Hazelton' when they were accused of "violating" the rights of illegal immigrants.

Why the issue of "rights" of illegal immigrants was ever brought up is beyond the scope of rational thinking as illegal immigrants have no legal rights other than the right to return to their homeland, either on their own or with help from US government agents.

To most Americans, the word "illegal" means something. It means "against the law" and any US citizen caught doing something that is "against the law" is immediately punished by our judicial system. That having been said, we as US citizens, have certain inalienable rights when dealing with illegal immigrants.

We have the right to refuse employment to anyone who is not in this country legally and the right to refuse to rent housing to them. We have the right and the responsibility to request proof of citizenship from anyone applying for a job or looking to find housing and the duty to turn in anyone found to be here illegally.

Unfortunately, our rights as US citizens are being trampled on by our courts and the dim -witted judges in our judicial system who have crippled the authority of our police and others who want to uphold the law, by proclaiming that the "rights" of illegal immigrants are being "violated".

As a result, illegal immigrants are given free rein to jobs, housing, education, food stamps, financial assistance and free health care and all of these amenities are handed out freely to them by our "benevolent" government. While the illegals are being granted sanctuary, food and medical care, thousands of American citizens live on the streets, homeless and left to fend for themselves in the search for a safe place to sleep and a scrap of food to eat. Medical care is non-existent and the homeless are a forgotten people to our government.

Americans are a proud people whose ancestors emigrated to America legally. We welcome new arrivals to our country but those who choose to come here, must follow the same rules that our ancestors did.

If our government is unwilling to enforce the rules of legal immigration, every state in our nation must take a stand and take the matter of seeking out and deporting illegal immigrants on their own. With millions of illegal immigrants already here in America, burdening the taxpayers and damaging our economy further, we can no longer stand idly by and wait for our government to wake up and see the damage being done to our America by allowing illegals to stay here - we must act and act now before it is too late.
