Name of the dog - is an accoustic sound to draw its attention. This name must be chosen short and loud. Usually dog is accustomed to its name in young age. Sometimes adult dog also can be teached to its new name if new owners don't know the old one.
How to Teach Your Dog To Come When Called
Every time come to you dog and stand not closer than 3-4 meters away. Then gently call its name 2-3 times. At last, come closer to it and give it a small treat. When dog is eating, repeat its name 2-3 times more. After a few days, when the dog starts to respond to it's name, change its treats to a simple tender stroke and tell him "Good!". Later when dog know its name, give him encouragement things less and less. Don't forget to use gestures too. It's good to clap your hands when you are calling your dog and use friendly positive voice tone. Repeating name helps to remind it better.
Possible Trainer Mistakes
1) Calling dog in aggressive tone.
2) Too often calling dog name, especially before each training command. It makes dog to do a command only then when he hears its name.
