Poetry: Rebirth

by Sid de Knees

Created on: October 28, 2009

I'm halfway there!

In seven months I will have spent,
a decade of my life to ink,
from glowing praise to sad lament,
or cheeky rhyme with knowing wink,
and I have thought, of giving up,
discarding all onto a flame,
beginning with an empty cup,
destroying too, my silly name.

But that would be a foolish thing,
to cast a decade to the wind,
because no body heard me sing,
should not result in being binned.
It may take decades to the top,
and I may break my legs en-route,
but while we're living we can't stop,
pursuing out a sole pursuit.

Despite a swollen, broken foot,
from falling down a while ago,
I'll use my hands and climb eyes shut,
if that is how my climb must go,
we all have got a peak inside,
there's little point denying this,
and even if I fail, I've tried,
and trying brings an equal bliss,
