What is basically going on in Zimbabwe is what I call "total abuse of power, human rights abuse, abuse of conscience, selfishness, neglect, etc". Here is a good example of a failed State and a perfect scenario where one man is playing God. I am not from Zimbabwe but am "deeply touched" by what I see and hear almost on daily basis about the country. Whether on the television, radio, the Internet or other means of news dissemination. First, the cholera outbreak, which killed a whole lot of individuals, then the fraudulent election which as a result, had many going to their early graves, and now as always the "sleeping" economy. The economy of the country is "dozing" to the extent that millionaires of the country are poor and wretched. The country has made a mess of money and billing systems and here, we are talking about a situation where a trillion in their currency is next to nothing when you take it to the world's financial market. Its sad and very unfortunate and this all goes down to complete bad leadership and coming from one man who has been in the saddle as the country's president for far more than two decades.
When we talk of Zimbabwe we talk of a nation where one man is all. A country where human freedom, security and democracy dividends are all "fictitious" and as the citizens of the country is suffering and having every new day become their worst, so is the economy also.
However, with the issue of South Africa (which is near and also shares a boundary with Zimbabwe) deciding to aid the economy of the country, one is anxious to know the area of first call of South Africa, in aiding their neighbor's crashed economy. Is South Africa going to pump in more money/facilities to the country and allow them to take care of themselves or is it going to fight bad leadership and dictatorship in Zimbabwe? The question remains, how in particular will the Zimbabwean economy be aided if not to set good leadership running.
What is happening in Zimbabwe is very sad and unfortunate and the good people of the country are the ones suffering from all these and as a result, the people have come to know the meaning of hunger and ill health by experiencing it and not like most of us do by knowing what they mean from what the dictionary tells us it is.
Africa as a continent should ponder on the good instruction of President Obama who insisted that what the continent needs is strong institutions and not strong men. The continent has been plagued by "sit tight" rulers who never
