You have your heart set on charting a yacht through the Caribbean, your main stop: The Virgin Islands. It has been stated that there is no where better in the Caribbean than the Virgin Islands. It is said to be one of the safest areas to sail as the islands are small and mostly uninhabited. The Virgin Islands has crystal clear water making it ideal for diving, sailing, swimming, and snorkeling.
The first thing you will need to decide when planning your yachting vacation in the Caribbean is whether you are going to sail the yacht yourself. If you are, be sure you have all the documentation and licenses required by law. If this is not the route you plan to go, a crewed charter is what you will need to charter a yacht to the Virgin Islands.
Next you will want to decide on the yacht size. The main thing to determine this is how many people are going on the Caribbean charter yacht? A smaller yacht is suitable for two people who are going to spend a few days on the Virgin Islands to larger boats to handle the capacity of more people and travel gear allowing for longer stays.
You have to have a captain, of course to handle the yacht. Other crew members are an optional but very handy to have. You are free to use the kitchen to prepare your own meals or you can have a chef on board to take care of this for you. There are also other roles to consider such as the main services, tour guides, and water instructors.
Because you know exactly where you want to go for your trip an itinerary is not likely needed but the freedom of a Caribbean yachting vacation allows for you to have that option. Captains are very knowledgeable of the area and will likely know exactly where to take you and show you. The time frame is your own.
The last thing you will have to consider on your Caribbean charter yacht to the Virgin Islands is whether or not you ever want to come home, or just park the yacht and enjoy the sand, sun and water for a few more days.
And who could blame you if you decide to stay a few more days, or maybe - not come home at all. Whatever you decide, the Virgin Islands is a paradise we would all love to call home.
