Reunion scheduled,
weight-loss plan in place.
In anticipation of visiting
the past, face-to-face.
Gym decorated,
punch duly spiked.
Band stirs up memories,
playing songs that we liked.
Football players sport paunches,
cheerleaders lack cheer.
Enquire what they've been up to,
but don't really care
Stories from the past
on which we reflect,
sound much more exciting
in retrospect.
All that future potential
has come home to roost.
Are achievements for real,
or just ego boost?
Compliments abound,
but, if truth were told,
I'm still in my prime,
while they all seem so old.

Years had passed
Since they were all together in one room

I went to my High School reunion
It had been fifty years
The emotions were a mixture
Of much laughter

High school reunions
Are fun to do
When you still
Have a few friends
You see all the time
You get to see old ones
When you are
Aprehensive dragging footsteps, will this be like senior year?
Hollow-soundin g heels tic-ticking, why did I travel here?
