Poetry: If I listened

by Melissa Sparks

Created on: October 27, 2009

Victorian lace and bobbled beads

pearls with dainty things to fill my needs

tea parties, gatherings and such

china, crystal, and antiques you must not touch

romance in a play of sophistication

those are rich make a donation

fancy dresses all in a flare

everyone prominent does seem to care

ballroom dances are popular by far

tasting cookies, cakes, and crumpets at the bar

twirling around the dance floor

there is no room for the poor

discussions of politics and whore's

secrets behind closed doors

Victorian principles to maintain

finds their nature to be vain
